They also stood and stared at me all glassy-eyed as I told them how I SPENT $51.00 but I SAVED $53.00...I tried to explain how I saved over 50% on our weeks groceries, and they just nodded and smiled...(you know, they way you do the crazy person on the bus that won't leave you alone!)
But the thing they have really taken notice of is the resurgence of the NAME BRAND! After I lost my job, we started cutting our shopping bill by getting Store Brand stuff...which-to be fair-some of it was just as good as what we were used to...but some was not.
I was hugged for my (little) stockpile of candy and was thanked for the NAME BRAND Pop Tarts!
I was one of those people that thought "I'm not going to use coupons...even WITH the coupon, the name brand stuff is cheaper...."
Boy, was I wrong!
